Control who is allowed
to access what, inside
your organization or on
the Internet,
using simple, common
sense based input.
Organisations often have need for network access control (NAC) functionality which is simple to use for
everyone but powerful enough to effectively control access to intranet as well as internet. FMS bridges this
gap between simplicity and power by offering network access control mechanism based  on commonsense,
which is simple to implement and manage, and powerful enough to serve complex requirements.

Examples of FMS-Enterprise Gateway defined network access policies are:

  • Guests, visitors or unknown users may be blocked from accessing any network resource till permitted
by administrator or may be initially permitted to have very limited access.

  • Users belonging to class 1 may have unlimited access to internet and intranet, such as executives and
    senior staff of an organization.

  • Users belonging to class 2 may be permitted access to commonly accessed technical information
websites, financial information websites and general news websites. This, for example may be the
    engineering staff of the organization.

  • Users belonging to class 3 may have their access limited to only internal subnets and no internet access
at all. Theses, for example may be partner company users or temporary workers.

NOTE: Please note that these are just few examples for illustrative purposes, you can create any combination
of network access control you feel appropriate for your organization, the system does not restrict you to
predefined rules. Similarly, you can change the policies anytime you like.

This powerful capability of setting any desired access control for any set of users provide a powerful tool for
the network administrators and managers. The administrator is not required to learn complex networking
technology such as ACLs, routing, switching etc. Administrator just need to type website names and FMS-
Enterprise Gateway takes care of the rest.
